Steve Harrop

I have worked in the appliance parts and service industry since 1984. Starting with appliance repair training at Polly Tech institute in Santa Clara, CA. I then did in-home repair. After doing repairs for a couple of years, I was recruited by a parts and services company, where I found my experience fit well. At the first company I worked for, I was fortunate to work beside a man who was a veteran heating and air specialist, where I learned a lot about HVAC and gas appliances. I have worked at various parts stores over the past 25 years, and really enjoy helping customers to solve their repair issues.

I served in the US Army as a heavy equipment mechanic, where I learned many mechanical trouble shooting techniques which have proven invaluable in the appliance parts and repair field.

Here at APC we have a philosophy that fits my experience in that it is all about going the extra mile to help customers with parts testing, logical trouble shooting procedures, and repair projects.

Joe Lopez

I started working in the industry in 1998 at a local appliance sales and repair shop. I worked in the parts department under very experienced people. There we did a lot of research using microfiche. They also had a service department there, so any extra time, or personal time I had, I asked and watched shop call repairs. After five years, I got sick, and had to take time off (6 months). So, I moved on.

I then worked on the other side of the business and worked in a wholesale distribution warehouse for 6 to 8 months. Basically, to pull and package appliance parts to ship out to customers such as us. But then, after realizing my experience was more based on helping people with their problems, I went back to what I did years prior. I worked for appliance companies which were authorized servicers for: LG, Samsung, Thermador/Bosch, Fisher Paykel, and DCS. I was able to attend training, as well as meetings for those brands. I also assisted with the shop repairs myself. Again, I was handling all walk in customers for parts, and managing the service department, all the while servicing the more common brands; such as: Whirlpool, Maytag, Frigidaire, General Electric, Hotpoint, etc…

Scott Shields

Scott started in the appliance industry doing deliveries and installations of both new and used appliances. From there, he moved on to doing in-home service calls and repairs of large appliances. After many years, and a few injuries, he was diagnosed with a disease that put an end to his days as a technician. Since he had experience with repairs, he was a good fit for the parts department, and had many loyal customers, including technicians. He was able to have informed conversations and help the customers determine the direction to take when evaluating the necessary part for repair. He really enjoys working in smaller family owned local businesses with the philosophy of assisting customers, and helping people to keep their existing machines going strong, and out of the landfills.
